In this set, the teapot's spout is located at the bottom. Dry tea and hot water is placed through the top opening after lid is removed just like any other teapot. During infusion, the water will not leak because it is sitting on a teapot base. When the tea is ready to pour, block the air hole with your index finger and lift the teapot to the top of the tea ocean (with lid removed, of course). The teaware with the lid and side spout is the tea ocean (a.k.a. tea pitcher). Release your finger and water will begin to drain through teapot's bottom spout. Based on the theory of vacuum-sealed science, water stays inside the teapot chamber when the air hole at the lid is blocked and drains when the air flows. Tea ocean includes a removable metal filter to capture tiny tea particles.
